About Wake Teen

At Wake Teen, our primary goal is to provide you with a comprehensive array of low-cost services that include preventive health care, mental health care, nutrition counseling and health education to help improve the quality of your life. We center our services around 3 CORE ACTIONS that we believe are essential to help you transition from childhood to adolescence to adulthood – EDUCATE, ENCOURAGE and EMPOWER.

EDUCATE

  • To increase your knowledge and understanding about your body and the changes that are occurring as you become an adult
  • To improve your decision-making, resulting in overall satisfaction with your health
  • To improve health and develop life skills

ENCOURAGE

  • To work with your health care team to get the information, resources, services and treatment that you need.
  • To make healthy lifestyle choices
  • To promote accurate information among friends and family
  • To make healthy choices for yourself and to become a self-advocate

EMPOWER

  • To become involved in making decisions about your health and well-being.
  • To speak up on your behalf in areas that can affect your health to your parents, teachers, peers and health care providers
  • To take more responsibility for yourself and your well-being by understanding your diagnosis, treatments, medication names and purposes
  • To improve the quality of your life
